A few lines on how this album came about:
After 15 years of writing and publishing Dutch poetry, I felt I wanted to get back to my first love:
songwriting (both music and lyrics). And also to leave the world some more recordings, in addition to
the 40 or so already existing. Around November 2021 in my hometown The Hague, French pianist
Guillaume Marcenac caught my attention with his jazz-arrangements of well-known chansons.
Since my own main influences have been Bob Dylan, Billie Holiday and Kurt Weill, I thought he might
be a good person to work with. Little did I know it would become this long and inspiring collaboration.
With “Moments along the way”, I present myself here as a singing writer with a selection of my
favourite songs from between 1984 and 2002. Many of them partly rewritten, all with new
arrangements.
