Guillaume Invites Podium NOORD en Guillaume Marcenac lanceren een gloednieuwe serie: Guillaume Invites. Vier edities waarin alles kan gebeuren. Schuif aan in onze foyer voor een heerlijk kopje koffie en een onvergetelijke namiddag. Dit is geen standaard concert. Rond de piano bij ons in de salon ontvangt Guillaume per editie bijzondere gasten, van muzikanten tot dichters, performers en beeldend kunstenaars. Samen creëren zij een moment dat je maar één keer kunt meemaken. Elke editie vormt een tijdelijk universum waarin klank, verhaal en verbeelding samenkomen. Laat je meevoeren door de internationaal gerenommeerde pianist en componist Guillaume Marcenac, die bekende artiesten én nieuw talent samenbrengt. Hij begeleidt hen, improviseert live en bouwt bruggen tussen poëzie, theater en diverse muziekstijlen. Deze editie: Gypsy Jazz Guillaume Marcenac is een veelzijdig dirigent en arrangeur, bekend om zijn energieke stijl en verfijnde muzikale visie. Christiaan van Hemert begon als violist en groeide uit tot een ware virtuoos op de gypsy gitaar. From that moment, everything changed. Guillaume, a jazz and classical pianist, had fallen in love with Latin jazz—its energy, rhythms, and soul. To him, it was truly inspiring. Gerardo, an Afro-Cuban and Caribbean music expert who had recorded with legendary pianists Bebo Valdés and Edy Martínez, immediately recognized Guillaume’s talent. Passionate about the piano himself, Gerardo started music by learning the instrument and developed a deep, personal connection with it. He loved how Guillaume’s compositions and playing conveyed genuine emotion and was excited to explore how their worlds could come together. During that session, a special chemistry sparked. Guillaume felt a profound connection to Latin jazz, and Gerardo saw the potential for something truly unique. They decided to form Charanjazz, bringing in talented musicians: Myrthe, a specialist in both classical and jazz violin; Patricia, an expert in jazz and Latin bass; and Eduardo, an authentic sonero from Havana whose voice embodies the soul of Latin music. Gerardo explains, “Charanga is a vibrant Cuban ensemble that performs chachachá, danzón, and traditional music. We wanted to honor that while fusing it with jazz’s harmonic language.” Guillaume adds, “Latin jazz speaks to me on a deep level. It’s storytelling through rhythm and melody. The late bass player and record producer Ruud Jacobs commented: "He is a real talent."<br />Jurjen Donkers got into the world of jazz music at the age of 14 when he met Europe's First Lady of Jazz Rita Reys, who's personal assistent he was from 2004 till her passing in 2013. Through her he was introduced into the Dutch jazz scene. In recent years he shared the stage with well known artists and musicians such as Ruud Jacobs, Eric Ineke, Marjorie Barnes, Peter Beets, and Lex Jasper. He regularly performs with Robert Koemans, Vincent Koning, Cas Jiskoot and Francesca Tandoi, and recently sang as a guest soloist with the West Coast Big Band and the Harbour Jazz Band.<br />​<br />Besides his own projects Donkers has through the years been involved in organizing several events, such as Greetje Kauffeld's 60 Years On Stage tour, Eric Ineke's 70th birthday concert, a tribute concert for Rita Reys at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw in 2016, and the celebration of Ack van Rooyen's 90th birthday in 2020. In 2018 he was one of the producers of Rita Reys Collected, a 3CD released worldwide by Universal Music.
